1. Who are you?
Well, we are Austin Dupree & Jesse Bartlett. We live in Oak Cliff (Dallas, TX ) and love to cook, preserve food, and travel. We combined all those things and created Girls Who Can.
2. How did you start?
We rode our bikes one summer morning in 2013 to the farmer's market in downtown Dallas with a few good canning recipes in our back pocket in hopes to just make some good salsa and fruit jelly. After we canned our first batches with produce from local farmers, we were hooked on canning.
3. Where do you find your recipes?
We love looking through old cookbooks, mostly from our families. We both come from a long line of women who canned, so it was easy to find their favorite recipes. We've also found inspiration from modern cookbooks and online sources.
4. Where do you get your produce?
Our first stop is the Dallas Farmer's Market. We love to support local farmers and markets and we prefer to use only seasonal produce.
5. I loved a recipe you did a few months ago. Will you make it again?
Quite possibly! Once the produce is fresh and in season, we can reintroduce a recipe and make several batches. Let us know what your favorite is!
6. If I have a recipe idea, can I send it to you to try?
YES! We love suggestions from our foodie friends!
7. Can you ship my products?
Because we can out of our family kitchen, we operate under the umbrella of the Texas Cottage Food Law. This means we have to sell our products to you in person. Right now we offer a to-your-doorstep delivery or a local pick-up location.
8. Can I buy your products in retail locations?
Very soon! That's our next big step and we are very excited about it!
